Steve Donecker is a Texas-licensed Electrician with over 25 years of hands-on experience in commercial, healthcare, government, and entertainment electrical construction. He founded PTEC — Professional Texas Electrical Contractor — to bring that deep expertise directly to clients who demand precision, accountability, and results.
Steve's background spans every level of the electrical trade — from journeyman electrician in the field to Lead Superintendent and Project Manager on some of San Antonio's most complex construction projects. His work includes the Methodist Hospital Central Tower and Children's Hospital, Mission Trails Baptist Hospital ground-up construction, the Texas Biomedical Research Institute's Level 3 Biosafety Laboratory, and the San Antonio International Airport Federal Inspection Station — projects that demand the highest standards of safety, code compliance, and schedule management.
Beyond construction, Steve served as Director of Integrated Facilities Management at Foundation Surgical Hospital, where he oversaw all facilities, environmental services, safety, biomedical, and security systems for a full surgical hospital and medical office building. In this role he managed DNV and State regulatory compliance, maintained the Environment of Care (EOC) program, oversaw preventative maintenance, and directed all building repairs and construction activities — giving him a uniquely comprehensive understanding of how hospital systems operate from both the construction and operations side.
His deep knowledge of NFPA-70, NFPA-99, NFPA-101, life safety codes, and healthcare regulatory requirements (TJC, TDH, DNV, CMMS) is one of the most specialized and in-demand skill sets in the industry. Steve also holds an OSHA-30 Hour Construction Safety certification and is trained in STI Firestop installation and confined space safety.
More recently, Steve has expanded into the entertainment and attractions sector — delivering electrical systems for immersive experiences, live entertainment venues, and major amusement park installations. He founded PTEC in 2024 with a simple mission: to provide the same caliber of electrical expertise that major firms deliver — with the personal attention, responsiveness, and accountability that only an owner-operated business can offer.
